Second scenario - Mati

Second Scenario

Setting

The setting, where this scenario takes place, is the portal of Õpilasmalev. The page lies in the address minu.malev.ee. The portal works as a intersection for every type of information put in by its user base.

Actors

The actors involved in the scenario are Mati (the secondary user) and the portal itself.

Goals

The user goals in this scenario are to search for familiar friends in the Õpilasmalev environment. This goal is his primary goal, derived from the wish to see some already-made friends at the start of the summer in Õpilasmalev.

His secondary goal is to browse different media (especially pictures) from the previous camps in Õpilasmalev. He intends to receive material about some spectacular events and simply an overview of the daily lives in Õpilasmalev.

His tertiary goal is to be able to consume up to date information about his upcoming camp. The information under question would be the payment, location, duration, number of members, head of camp etc.

Actions

In the first step, Mati enters the Õpilasmalev portal. There he browses to the members section, where an outtake of the database (camp attendees database) is displayed. He then enters his friend name to the search field (located on the right column) and selects the attending year to 2010 and clicks search. After that he receives an output of all friends named ‘X’ who attend Õpilasmalev in the year 2010. From that list Mati picks the one searched for (based on displayed secondary information, age, camp attended etc.).

The second action he continues with is the browsing of the media. He goes to the section “Pictures”, where large lists of different public photo-albums are displayed (made public by previous media-importers). He clicks on one of the albums, which opens in a new tab. He browses the album there.

Objects

Objects, that are necessary for his browsing experience, would be the search field and application on the members’ page. Also applications that generate automated outputs from the members database and the public albums database, have to be generated/created in the code of Õpilasmalev.

Another important object that affects in a positive outcome the browsing experience for him, would be the possibility to receive a computer-generated list of his friends in Õpilasmalev, with the system getting the search terms (inputs) from Mati’s Google Account (similar functionality is in eg. Facebook: friend importer).
